1. Travel alone
My mom’s first reaction was, “Are you sure that’s safe?” Sure it is, as long as you’re careful. I’m not going to get hammered and wander around by myself at night. I’m even more excited for my first solo travel because I’m a girl. Why shouldn’t girls travel alone? Why does it feel less okay? This will be one piece I can’t wait to write about.
2. Say yes to something that scares me
God, if I’m scared of one thing, it’s heights. When I went hiking in the Canaries, our guide gave us the option of hiking further onto a more dangerous path. I stayed put, I could still feel the anxiety from merely sitting at the edge of the cliff and watching my friends throw orange peels off the edge. Maybe it won’t be getting over my fear of heights, it could be anything!
3. Try to learn a new skill
Participating in a cooking class in another country or learning basic Italian from my roommate. I want to add something else to my repertoire this year. 2015 may be the year I try and relearn how to ski. You never know when it’s going to come in handy!
4. Go to a music festival in Europe
There’s so many great European music festivals coming up. I would hate to miss out on the going to one. From Primavera Sound in Barcelona to Tomorrowland in Belgium to Glastonbury in the U.K. Although tickets have sold out for some of the better known festivals, I’m looking at tickets for Roskilde Festival in Denmark, which lasts nine days! They just added Paul McCartney to the list of acts.
5. See the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona
Spain has tons of great traditional festivals, like La Tomatina, Las Fallas, La Feria, etc. I love The Sun Also Rises so going to San Fermin is a MUST DO.
6. Check out more places in the U.S.
I still haven’t even been to New York (12 hours doesn’t count). How can I keep running around Europe and not even travel to places in my own country? There’s so many cool cities to visit in the States: Austin, Seattle, New Orleans, Denver. There’s also Niagara Falls, The Rockies, Zion National Park, and more.
7. Go to a new continent
I’m ready to see a different part of the world. I don’t know if this will happen by the end of 2015, but I hope so. Top of my list are: South America and Asia.
Can’t wait to see what happens this year! What are your travel goals for 2015?
